I’m an astronomer, living on a ranch in rural Colorado. As a scientist, I’m naturally an atheist, and as an atheist living in a disturbingly theistic society, I’m interested in how religion- and its lack- influence politics, ethics, and society in general.
I live with my wife Louise on our ranch, where we have horses, milk goats, a couple of Great Danes, and a bunch of cats.
I also operate a private observatory, Cloudbait, from here. I’m a research associate at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and in partnership with the Museum I operate a network of allsky cameras around the state, mostly in schools, for the purpose of capturing meteor data. Here in Guffey, I help out with the science program at our little K-8 charter school, which hosts one of the allsky cameras.
